NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Mosquito, Termite and Rodent Control Board (NOMTRCB) today announced it will conduct adult mosquito abatement tonight.
Treatments tonight will target adult Culex mosquitoes, the primary vectors of West Nile virus (WNV) in our region. Treatments will take place by truck from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m., weather permitting, in the following areas:
As peak mosquito season approaches, NOMTRCB urges residents to reduce the risk of mosquito bites by using EPA-registered and CDC-approved mosquito repellents when outdoors, especially at night when the mosquitoes that spread WNV are most active. Prevent accidental mosquito breeding around the home and yard by inspecting outdoor areas at least once a week and removing or turning over water-holding containers and other objects. Remember that mosquitoes can breed in a very small amount of water
